Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis in the UK. Symptoms vary greatly from one person to the next but often include:

Joint pain and stiffness – almost any joint can be affected but osteoarthritis most often causes problems in the knees, hips, spine, small joints of the hands and the base of the big toe.
Swelling, tenderness and a grating or crackling sound when moving affected joints.

It’s important to see your GP if you think you might have osteoarthritis and haven’t been diagnosed yet. The condition can cause inflammation of the tissues in and around the joints. It can also damage cartilage (which enables joints to move easily without friction) and result in bony growths around joint edges.

Our Ostenil Plus treatment can help relieve pain and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis. Ostenil Plus is a solution containing hyaluronic acid. It can be injected into affected joints which are classified as ‘synovial’.

A synovial joint is where the ends of the joint’s bones are encased in a capsule containing synovial fluid. Hyaluronic acid is present in synovial fluid – but its balance is disturbed by osteoarthritis causing it to stop working properly.

We expertly inject hyaluronic acid into the space in the joint which contains synovial fluid.
This helps to restore balance, alleviate pain and stiffness and improve other osteoarthritis symptoms.
Results build gradually with less pain and stiffness with improvements generally lasting for one year. Most clients are then able to have another Ostenil Plus injection.
